CO-OPs & ORGANIZED MONEY

I’m looking forward to participating next week in the Weavers Way Fall Meeting to talk about organized money and the coop movement. Weavers Way is a thriving food coop—and local economy force—in Northwest Philadelphia. My wife and I are co-op members.

Jon Rosser, the co-manager, wrote in the Philadelphia Inquirer earlier this week about the co-operative movement in and around Philadelphia in anticipation of Mayor Jim Kenney declaring tomorrow Philadelphia Grocery Co-Op Day. Jon does a great job of explaining how much Weavers Way achieves.

Organized Money features Weavers Way (p.83) to illustrate how progressives sometimes hand over their money (reluctantly in this case) to conservative financial institutions, ceding revenue and power. It is a great example of why it matters who organizes your money.

Tomorrow, October 19th, I will be at Weavers Way in the Ambler store from noon-2 pm talking about Co-ops & Organized Money.

On Sunday, October 27th, I will be the featured speaker talking about Organized Money at the Co-op’s Fall Membership Meeting, signing books, and seeing friends.
